Privacy Policy

Last updated: Nov. 1, 2026

Short version: Htownfan doesn't track you. The only personal information we get is what you choose to send: private notes through the ideas form, which only the site owner sees, and public comments on posts.

What we don't do

  • No accounts, sign-ups or email lists.
  • No advertising and no analytics or tracking cookies.
  • We never sell or share your information.

The questions and ideas form

If you use the ideas form to send a question or topic idea, we collect:

  • Your message (required).
  • Your name or nickname, only if you enter one.
  • Your email address, only if you enter one because you want a reply.

Submissions are private. Only the site owner can read them, and they are never posted on the site. Your email is used only to reply to you. Submissions are stored with our host, Cloudflare. We keep them only as long as they're useful and delete them sooner if you ask.

To keep spam out, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile (a "verify you are human" check) and a short-lived counter based on a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address. That counter expires on its own within two hours, and your IP address is not saved with your message.

Want something you sent deleted? Send another note through the form, or message us on X (see the Contact page), with roughly when you sent it and what it said, and we'll delete it.

Comments on posts

If you comment on a post, we collect:

  • Your nickname (required). Use any name you like. It doesn't have to be your real name.
  • Your comment (required).

Your nickname and comment are public once approved, and anyone can read them on the post. We don't ask for or collect an email address, and you don't need an account. Each comment is saved with the time it was posted and, if it was held for review, the reason (for example "link"). Comments are stored with Cloudflare.

To keep spam out, comments go through the same checks as the ideas form: Cloudflare Turnstile, plus short-lived counters based on a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address and a scrambled fingerprint of the comment text (to catch copy-paste spam). These counters expire on their own within two days. Your IP address is never saved with your comment. Comments held for review or rejected are never shown publicly. See the comment guidelines.

Want a comment deleted? Message @Htownfan on X or use the ideas form with the post, your nickname and roughly when you posted it, and we'll delete it.

What our host may log

This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may process standard request data, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Outside links

We link to team sites, news outlets and X. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and what you do there is between you and them.

Changes

If anything here changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
